"Yellow Jackets" nickname and mascot are
two of the most beloved trademarks of Georgia
Tech athletics. These trademarks emerged in 1905 when loyal Georgia
Tech fans showed support for their new school colors, wearing bright
yellow coats and jackets. Thus earning Georgia Tech the nickname,
"Yellow Jackets," and eventually, the mascot named, "Buzz". Former
Georgia Tech nicknames include the "Blacksmiths," the "Engineers,"
and "Golden Tornados." |
